ORA marksman award to Gnr Grand Trunk Railway 2nd Battery of Artillery

The Ontario Rifle Association was started in 1872 and held many marksmanship competitions that were heavily attended by the Canadian Militia. This award was given to Gnr J Little of the 2nd Grand Trunk Railway Artillery Battery in 1874. A nice early example of an award presented by the ORA to a well know desirable Canadian unit. The RMC Hockey team was raised in 1886 and was well known for its athletic ability. The team was known as the Paladins and had a long standing rivalry with the Queen's University team. The college was bilingual so its acronym was RMC for English and CMR for French. Boer War Canadian Officer Sam Brown Rig

Offered is a Sam Brown Belt with its crossed shoulder straps, with a period Boer War Issued ammo pouch and holster for the Colt 1878 Pistol. These holsters are very rare to find on the market as only 1001 were purchased for Canada and used in the NW Campaign 1885 and the Boer War 1900. Rifle Regiment Busby Cap with Senior NCO Plume

A beautifully preserved Busby for an unidentified British or Commonwealth Rifle Regiment. The seal fur is in excellent condition and well as the cloth crown. The liner is intact, but with no markings. It has its silver finial and its short Sr NCO high quality feather plume. It has its carry storage bag included. These are the basic pouches issued to every soldier for garrison guard duty or used by second line troops. Not uncommon to see POW guards, Service Corps or Engineers wearing these pouches. These web pouches are less weight and bulky. Well marked, in nice condition.  read more

MkII Canadian Issue Helmet GSW 1942

A standard MkII helmet with a very nice overall finish, no dents and a good chinstrap. The liner is a good size and dated 1942, the shell is stamped GSW, a Canadian manufacturer. The paint is 99% intact, the colour is good and the liner show signs of soiling from storage. Hard to upgrade.  read more

19th Century British Army Fur Cap

This style of fur cap was popular in Canada during the first half of the 19th century. There is no way to date this cap, but its liner is typical of the period and the fur appears to be a course seal skin with a slit or crack break in the leather on one side near the head band edge.
