Luftwaffe Field Tunic

A decent basic example of the standard field and flight tunic for other ranks. This has its original eagle hand sewn with original period thread, boards and gulls on the lapels. The lapels appear to have had collar insignia, it cannot be determined if they were removed later in the war or post war. Keep in mind many flight personnel at the end of the war were taken from their original airfield employment and thrown into the meat grinder as infantry. It is possible the soldier removed their coloured collar tabs and just applied the gulls. They would have been ordered to go without replacement tabs indicating their new roll due to supply issues plaguing the front lines, if this was the case with this tunic we will never know.

The overall condition is fair and ideal for display of equipment or as an undergarment. I used this tunic under my Para smock for a few years to do the job. It looks like late war production, with late war RBN number and stamps. There is some minor field repairs done to the left pit, to a pocket buttonhole and minor mothing on the right sleeve, back skirt and collar edge. A real tunic, been there in the field, and an affordable item for a first time collector.
