WWII British Touque 1940

WWII British Touque 1940

The standard issued British wool cap, most famous for its use by Commandos, was universal to British troops. It is not clear if Canadians were ever issued these caps, but the 1st Canadian Corps was in the 8th Army supply chain in Italy and certainly CANLOAN Officers served in British units. Is it possible they were worn at Dieppe? A fair example offered here with some mothing and dated 1940.  read more

The cloth is not faded nor soiled and the peak is mint. The cap badge dates from the 1920s, not surprising as these caps remained in service a long time. The leather c...  read more
