WWII British Touque 1940

The standard issued British wool cap, most famous for its use by Commandos, was universal to British troops. It is not clear if Canadians were ever issued these caps, but the 1st Canadian Corps was in the 8th Army supply chain in Italy and certainly CANLOAN Officers served in British units. Is it possible they were worn at Dieppe? A fair example offered here with some mothing and dated 1940.
