British & Irish Regimental & Volunteer Medals 1745-1895, Vol. 1: Regular Army
A first edition in great condition. Printed in 19, the book outlines and showcases the rare unit issued medals common to the British Army. In the early days of warfare with the british Standing Army there were no medals, when medals for campaigns were finally issued no medals for bravery or conduct were yet introduced. In the 1700s COs of various regiments stamped coins or medals to recognize campaigns, or their soldiers conduct in battle or in peace. Some were of a standard pattern, others were one offs. A very interesting subject and a rare book on this niche subject.
