South African War Souvenir Silk Lapel Banner - Welcome Home Sons of Scarborough Committee

A rare item worn by a member of the Welcome Home Committee of the borough of Scarborough Ontario. The Organizing Committee would be made up of volunteers sanctioned by town and city councils across the country to provide a big welcome home, often with bands and banners, flags and banners. This particular small community welcomed the few returning soldiers back to Scarborough Northeast of Toronto. Images of the soldiers are on the attached ring.
