Brown Leather Gaiters dated 1900
Gaiters were a late Victorian accoutrement used to protect the soldier from ankle injuries, wear to pant legs in rough terrain and brush and to prevent tics and fleas in field maneuvers. They were black for full or field dress, but when in tropical conditions they were issued in brown leather. This pair is dated to the Boer War 1900. Complete and in good supple condition.
