WWII Canadian Issue Large Bren Pouch Set
These pouches were meant to be worn by the 2 on the Bren gun team within a section. It was additional capacity to take on extra Bren mags in the field. They are worn over the left shoulder, with the large strap worn under the epaulette and the thin strap wrapped around the chest or waist. One pouch is marked rear and the other front for ease of assembly. The idea was the left shoulder would carry the two heavy Bren mag pouches over the shoulder front and rear. Not many are seen in photos in use in the field, but an interesting concept. A photo provided of it in use on exercise in England in a different configuration. I would think this to be a bit uncomfortable on the back of the neck.
Matched sets in very good condition.
