1860 Light Cavalry Sabre US marked blade

The 1860 Light Cavalry sabre was the standard sword for the Union Soldier on horse back. It was an improvement in design, even though it looks much like the old 1840 "wrist Breaker" it replaced. The brass hilt has a lovely patina with a clean blade, with normal dulling to its surface. The grip is complete and the blade is tight to the hilt and suffer three minor chips or dents as seen in the pic provided. The scabbard has both rings, but has developed a light brown patina to its surface. An overall solid example of the pattern and well marked. Markings read on one side the manufacturer Mansfield and Lamb and the other US indicating military service, DFC for the inspector and manufacture date of 1862, a date many collectors prefer because its early enough to have been used during the major battles of 1862 to 1865. Overall in good condition, but with minor flaws, priced accordingly.
